Our Villa Vondel after-school club is located in a unique spot right on Amsterdam’s main park, Vondelpark: a magic place complete with high ceilings and lots of space and light. 'The Villa Vondel game'
Once a month, the children sit down with the after-school club staff to discuss what they’d like to do. We’ve even invented our own game: the Villa Vondel Game, where the children set the rules together, create the game attributes themselves, and try out the game to see if it actually works. It takes a lot of real teamwork to design a game, and it’s beautiful to see how proud the kids are of the fruit of their labor!
Activities
Our outdoor activities include a walk through Vondelpark or Amstelpark, where we observe the trees, flowers, and birds. We also offer hockey, soccer, athletics or judo clinics, where the children attend lessons for a number of weeks. This gives them a strong grounding in a sport in a short space of time (and they learn whether they’d like to pursue that sport in the future), along with confidence and a sense of accomplishment. During school vacations, we follow the activity program we prepare for these periods, with trips to the Van Gogh Museum, NEMO, the Artis zoo, and the Kabouterbos (fairy-tale forest).

Active outdoor playPlaying outside is not only healthy. Children learn and play differently outside than they do indoors. That's why we are often found outside, always under supervision, of course!

Creative studioThe children can really give a free rein to their fantasy and creativity here. We challenge them by offering many different types of materials (wood, bricks, clay, paint, and such things as Ecoline). So they’re not only doing crafts and drawing but also designing, building, and handcrafts.

Kids’ kitchenA real children's kitchen where everything is adjusted to child height. Here, we teach the children how to cut, knead, bake, and work together. We educate them about (healthy) ingredients, working independently, and following recipes. We truly give them something for the future by teaching them new skills.

Fun vacation outingsWe offer a varied range of activities during the holidays. From silent discos to sports days and museum visits. Diverse activities so that every child feels engaged. And we don't just stay at the facility; we also go out and explore!
